Abstract

An electronic control circuit comprises a controllable rectifier element 56 for connection to a single phase supply voltage, and at least two integrated circuits IC 1 and IC 2 arranged to control the controllable rectifier element 56 by varying its phase angle. The integrated circuits IC 1 and IC 2 are arranged to be energised via a rectifier 53 connected to receive the supply voltage. The integrated circuits IC 1 and IC 2 are connected in series in a control path to the controllable rectifier element 56, and in series with respect to their supply of energisation current. The element 56 may be a triac, the firing angle of which is controlled to dim or brighten a lamp 59. The brightness control may be effected by a manually operated switch 60 or by a transducer 3 responsive to remotely transmitted infra red or ultrasonic waves. <IMAGE>
