Abstract

A fire-protective coating material suitable for the thermal protection of utility lines, comprises an aqueous resinous emulsion containing a halogen-containing organic compound, for example a brominated hydrocarbon, low temperature fibrous material, for example glass or organic fibres and a clay, for example hydrated alumna silicate or a hydrated alkali metal aluminosilicate. The composition also preferably contains antimony compound, a plasticiser for the resin and hydrated alumina.
