Abstract

A method or apparatus for proportioning flow in pipes (1 to 22) so that should the total flow change the relative proportions of the rates of flow in the pipes are maintained constant. This is done by automatic change in the resistance to flow in the pipes by means of respective fluidic control devices (50). The various fluidic devices are proportioned according to the flows required through them. Each device (50) has an internal control formation and a control port (52) and a common connection between the control ports is established. The method is especially, though not exclusively, applicable to the control of flow through the heat exchange channels of large boilers in steam power generating plant. In such applications the invention is especially useful in maintaining proportionality of flows in the channels where some channels are required to be blanked off. <IMAGE>
