Abstract

The invention provides wash-off photohardenable imaging compositions suitable for use in the preparation of continuous-tone dye images such as those required for colour- proofing. The compositions comprise a mixture of (a) a light-sensitive photohardenable diazo resin and (b) a polymeric cationic mordant which is compatible with the diazo resin and which is capable of being retained in the photo-hardened form of the composition. After image-wise exposure the unexposed areas are washed out and the remaining hardened areas dyed with an anionic dye solution. The dye image can be transferred to another sheet which contains a cationic mordant which is stronger than the mordant with the diazo resin.
