Abstract

A building block or like comprises two slabs (10, 14) secured by headed pins (12). One slab (10) is of preformed cementitious material and the pins, e.g. screws, are inserted into it prior to casting the slab (14). The slab (14) is cast so as to embed the heads of pins (12) while leaving a cavity between the two slabs. The block may be in the form of a brick to be used with like blocks for building a wall or the block may comprise a panel. The heads of the pins may be interconnected by tie wires (18). The first slab is preferably lightweight aggregate thermally insulating material and the second slab is preferably glass reinforced cement or polyester. <IMAGE>
