Abstract

A suspension filing apparatus comprises carrier members 2,3 or 4 slidable on a frame 1 and provided with carrier pins 7 extending across the storage space 5,6 between the members for supporting documents, the members being movable towards and away from each other between open and closed positions in which the pins are spaced apart and overlap respectively. The carrier members are provided with locking means including a locking plate 17 having a lug 18 on one member engageable with a recess 19 associated with the other member, the locking plate 17 being operable to release the lug by pivotal movement of an operating bar 15 extending along the one member, and the members being moved to their open position by a pull on the bar 15. The apparatus may include a device for retaining documents on the pins when the apparatus is opened and may include means for biasing the carrier members for movement in the opening and closing directions. <IMAGE>
