Abstract

The system, e.g. for use in the after-burner of an aircraft jet propulsion engine, includes two injection manifolds (8, 9) co-axial with a duct (4) and each having a constant diametral relationship with the duct. Orifices (11) for the injection of fuel from the downstream manifold (9) direct jets of fuel axially either on to the upstream manifold (8) or on to a separate anvil interposed between the manifolds. The upstream manifold (8) has orifices (12) for the injection of fuel either on to an upstream anvil (10) or on to an anvil lying between the manifolds. <IMAGE>
