Abstract
N-Pyridylaminomethylene- diphosphonic acid compounds of the general formula below: <IMAGE> wherein R1, R2 and R3 represent a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl group, and X and Y represent independently, a hydrogen atom, lower alkyl group, halogen atom, nitro group, acetylamino group, carboxyl group, methoxycarbonyl group, hydroxyl group or methoxy group, excluding, however, N-(4- pyridyl) aminomethylene-diphosphonic acid. Herbicides containing such compounds as an active ingredient and a process for preparing such compounds by reacting a dialkyl phosphite with an alkyl ortho-carboxylate and an aminopyridine compound.
