Abstract

A structure for use in, for example, a dining-table, comprising a device having, as one side thereof, a heating-plate (4) heat insulated from an opposite side (7) thereof; the device being carried in a panel (1) which in use lies horizontally, e.g. the top of a table. The structure provides pivots (9, 13) to permit the device to be rotated to bring either side uppermost, the pivots being located so that, whichever side is so positioned, that side lies substantially in the plane of said surface of the panel. The plate (4) is heated by gas or electricity and a chamber (3) may be provided below the heating device to catch debris and, with the heating-plate (4) in the lower position, to function as a braising oven. Six heating devices may be provided in a dining table (Fig. 4) which has side extensions. <IMAGE>
