Abstract

Clear liquid is separated from a suspension of solids in liquid by adding polymeric flocculant to the suspension, mixing the suspension for a prolonged period, mixing further flocculant into the suspension, subjecting this suspension to settlement or flotation and then subjecting the resultant liquid to filtration. The process is preferably applied to the separation of inorganic suspensions such as those obtained in an ore leaching process.
