Abstract
A segmental mould which is a part of a tyre-curing or vulcanizing press, comprises an upper sidewall- shaping member (12), a lower sidewall- shaping member (2) and an annular array of radially movable tread-shaping segments (10). A linkage mechanism (18, 20, 21) actuated by a piston (29) which is mounted under the lower sidewall- shaping member, is provided to move the segments radially in respect to the lower sidewall-shaping member. A locking ring (9) attached to the piston and collaborating with shoulders (35) arranged on peripheral sides of the segments prevents the segments from being moved when the mould is closed. The unlocking of the segments is achieved, when the upper sidewall- shaping member is raised, due to the vertical movement of the lower sidewall-shaping member which is caused by springs (7) interposed between the lower sidewall-shaping member and the piston. With the mould closed the upper and lower parts of the press are clamped together by a closure (33). <IMAGE>
