Abstract
A device for measuring torque and angular movement of a steering shaft of a vehicle has a rotatable measuring part with strain gauges for measuring the torque and a measuring element for measuring the angle. The measuring part consists of an upper ring 19 and a lower ring 18 connected to one another by a plurality of flexible metal strips 20 arranged cage-wise at least some of which have strain gauges 21 affixed to them. The angle is measured by an electro-optical pulse transmitter 25 in the housing of the hub and connected to the steering shaft via gear transmission elements 26, 27. A battery- operated X-Y recorder is provided to evaluate and record the results of the measurements. Pressure cells are provided for measuring the pressure in servo-assisted steering, the values being fed to the recorder. <IMAGE>
