Abstract

A hose-end connector is provided for a thermosplastics material hose having no metal reinforcement. The connector comprises a stem portion 15 and a ferrule 16 which is swaged to the stem portion 15 in two assembly stages. During the first assembly stage a flange portion of the ferrule 16 is swaged into locking engagement with an annular groove in the stem portion, and during the second assembly stage a main body portion of the ferrule is swaged onto a hose end which is located in an annulus between the stem portion 15 and the ferrule 16. The stem portion 15 is provided with a series of barbs for engaging the bore of the hose in non-severing contact and the ferrule is provided with a series of buttresses for engaging the outside wall of the hose in non-severing contact. When the ferrule is assembled to the stem portion the crests of the stem barbs are positioned to align with valleys between the ferrule buttresses. <IMAGE>
