Abstract

A screw G is engaged by a blade F within a barrel E which presents the blade slipping out of the screw's slot. A spring C presses the barrel forwards along the shank A of the blade F. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvement to Screwdriver The object of the tool is to insert any type of screw with greater ease.
Read the following in conjunction with the Drawing (attached): A. The shank of the tool can be of any section, i.e. round, square, etc.
B. The spring retaining washer is secured to the shank by crimping or welding.
C. The springs purpose to maintain pressure on the Barrel (this can be made to the same section as the shank, but not really necessary).
D. The back end of the Barrel is wider at this point, so that when pressure is applied on the tool, the inside of the barrel is kept parallel with the shank. The shape of the blade also aids this purpose and makes for a smooth non-stick operation.
E. The Barrel can be made ofANYsuitable metal or other rigid materials.
Its purpose: (a) Hold screw in position before insertion (b) Stops the blade slipping out of the screw's slot (c) Reduces the chances of scratching the material you are inserting the screw into.
F. The Blade is shown this shape as described earlier in "D". This could be of a conventional shape if required, but believe shape shown better suited for reasons previously outlined.
G. Any slotted screw that will fit into the Barrel, ideally it should protrude the end of the Barrel (to help guide screw into location).
The tool can be used for any size screw although the size of the tool would have to be varied, as are conventional screwdrivers.
Claims
1. The screwdriver can not slip off the screw as it is at all times covered by a barrel (as shown on drawing).
drawing). ~~ 2. The barrel is held firmly against the material into which the screw is to be inserted by means of a spring. Thus ensuring that the screw is fully covered at all times making it impossible for the screwdriver to slip off the screw.
