Abstract

7189. Dawson, Sir A. T., and Buckham, G. T. March 21. Ordnance breech mechanism, - Relates to breech mechanism of the kind d comprising two cranks mounted in the breech - screw carrier, one of the cranks serving to unlock the breechscrew and the other to displace it rearwardly in the breech-screw carrier before being swung clear of the breech opening by the movement of the carrier about its axis-pin. According to the invention, both cranks form parts of pinions each driven from pinions on the carrier axis-pin. In the form shown, the unlocking-crank D' carries a pinion D arranged at right-angles to the pinion E of the other crank E'. The pinions D, E are driven from a compound pinion C<1> on the carrier axis-pin C.
