Abstract
196,537. Davidson & Co., Ltd., and Whitmore, J. Sept. 11, 1922. Density separators.-A dust separator has a volute or spiral casing 1 on the top of and terminating tangentially to a conical structure 5 the lower end of which is connected by a cylinder 6 to another conical part with a dust outlet 8. The dust-laden air enters a tangential opening 2 and the purified air leaves by the pipe 3. Either the conical part 5 or the cylindrical part 6 may be omitted. A nozzle 10, Fig. 4 may be provided at the outlet 8 and has curved tapered vanes 11 to prevent the dust from rotating. The dust passes into a receptacle 14, Fig. 5 and a resilient packing ring 15 makes an air-tight joint between the receptacle 14 and the conical flange 13 on the nozzles. The air outlet may be provided with volute, or a pipe bend, or a cowl.
