Abstract

194,356. Mobley, L. K. Nov. 30. 1921. Gas-pressure sprayers.-Apparatus for spraying anµsthetics, antiseptics, and other medicaments by means of compressed gas according to the method described in Specification 156,846 comprises an outer casing carrying the valve head and spray-nozzle and interchangeable cartridges for the liquids under gas pressure. The outer casing comprises a tubular chamber 1, Fig. 5, having a cap 2 connected thereto by a bayonet joint and carrying a tubular port containing a conical valve 17 controlling the passage to the spray head and also a conical sealing provided with a packing 15 against which a conical part of the inner cartridge 42 bears. The valve 17 is operated by a push button 28 against the action of a spring 23. The cartridge is retained in position in the outer container by means of a spring 8 and is provided with a tube 46 through which the contents are ejected by gas pressure, the outlet being normally closed by a conical valve 48 which is operated by means of an extension 44 of the valve 17. When not in use the outlet of the cartridge 42 may be closed by a cap. The outlet of the apparatus may be provided with an atomizing-head comprising a block 33, Fig. 7, having a spiral groove 37 therein leading to a chamber 40 formed by a centrallv perforated cap 41 which screws on the tube 29 and holds the block 33 in place.
