Passing materials through fluids.-In machines for scouring, bleaching, and dyeing, or otherwise treating cloth, yarns. &c., and of the type wherein the material is carried through liquid in a tank A, Fig. 1, by means of two endless travelling flexible platforms or lattices B, B' guided in a zigzag course, the platforms &c. are each provided with inwardlyextending plates or platforms b, Figs. 1, and 5, at intervals, whereby the material may form folds or loops. The platforms &c. are carried by endless chains B<2> driven by main sprocket-wheels c and pulleys d. Each chain link b<2> has a projection b<3> carrying a perforated lattice H with a central rib h<1>, to which the plates &c. bare attached. The chains B<2> are supported by angleirons, and flat iron plates are fixed to the sides of the tank to prevent the cloth &c. from becoming entangled with the pulleys d.
