Abstract

228,835. Lord, S. S. Nov. 14, 1923. Drying materials in long lengths.-A machine ior drying fabrics or warps is provided with rollers &c. to assist in feeding the material and impart shaking movements substantially at right-angles to the faces of the material. The material 5, Fig. 1, passes between guide rolls 6, over and under rollers 2 of oblong cross-section arranged in a tank 1, to squeezing-rollers 7. The rollers 2 are driven by chain gearing, the rollers of the upper series being displaced angularly about 90‹ with respect to the rollers of the lower series. Jets 27 may be provided to direct drying fluid on to the faces of the material. As shown in Fig. 3, warp 13 in rope form is passed around driven rollers 28 of oblong section, the coils being separated by pegs 12 arranged on each side of a board 11. Certain of the coils pass between loosely-mounted rollers 14, the material leaving the apparatus between driven squeezing and feeding rollers 16.
