Abstract

Nuts.-A safety-nut which can only be operated by means of a special key comprises a cylindrical nut 2 and a surrounding sleeve 3 which can turn freely on it and is prevented from moving axially by a small screw or pin 4 which projects into a groove in the nut 2. A removable key 5 locks the nut to the sleeve while the nut is being turned, and has a lug which engages a projection 2<alpha> on the nut and an eccentric projection on its inner end which engages the inner face of the sleeve. The form of the key may be varied. The sleeve- 3 is provided with facets to receive a spanner.
