Atmospheric gas burners.-In a gas-burner in which the burner head is formed with an upper enlarged chamber 2 connected by flaring or tapering walls 4 to the lower reduced part, a core-piece comprising one or more corrugated or fluted sheet metal strips wound or shaped so as to form several passages is removably supported on a spider 3 within the upper chamber. In one form of burner, the core-piece for each burner head comprises a ring 9 containing a grid formed by coiling together a corrugated and flat strip 10, 11. The corrugated strip may be of thin gauze. In modifications, concentric corrugated strips may be employed or, when the burner head is square or rectangular, a corrugated strip folded in parallel layers may be used. The burner heads may be also of hexagonal or elongated form.
