Abstract

161,617. Coleman, G. F. Aug. 12, 1920. Batch-mixers with circulating - devices.- Relates to mixing or agitating machines for mixing drinks, medicines, &c., and of the kind comprising a base or pedestal for supporting a receptacle containing a mixer r mounted on a shaft carrying a clutch which gears with a clutch projecting upwards from the upper face of the base when the raceptacle is positioned thereon. The base or support of the receptacle is formed in one piece, and the vertical mixer-shaft is passed through a bore in a central boss formed therewith. The uppez and lower interengaging clutch members i, e of the mixer-shaft h and motor shaft d respectively are of similar construction and interchangeable, and the propeller j at the upper end of the shaft h is provided with an offset depending finger k on one of its blades. The metal or glass receptacle b is mounted on a, one-piece base or support f adapted to fit round a flange g on the upper face of the pedestal a. The receptacle b is provided at its upper end with a removable strainer l forming the base of a removable dome-shaped lid in engaging the edge n of the container. A pouring-spout o provided with a closure or cap p is formed at the centre of the dome m. Cross-wires or projections may be provided in the container to prevent swirling of the liquid. For churning or for use in making ice-cream, a removable cylindrical container is screwed on to the shaft h in place of the propeller.
