161,223. Parsons' Non-Skid Co., Ltd., and Green, G. H. Dec. 1, 1919. Hooks.-A device for coupling the side chains of non-skid tyres or for like uses comprises two members A, B hinged together at c. The member A has an eye a<2> to receive one end of the chain and a recess a which registers with a similar recess b in the member B to receive the other end of the chain. In the closed position, a wedgeshaped part b<3> of the member B engages a corresponding recess in the member A, and a spring clip D secured to the member A may also be provided to engage the member B. In operation, the member B is threaded through the chain and is then closed; in closing it serves as a lever to tighten the chain.
