Abstract
1530037 Sectional submarine vessels FORENDE FABRIKSVERKEN 18 June 1976 [19 June 1975] 25363/76 Heading B7A An unmanned submersible vessel, e.g. for laying mines or sonar surveillance devices, comprises a propulsion and steering section and one or more releasable sections arranged fore and aft with respect to each other, the or each releasable section being arranged to sink upon release from the vessel. In one embodiment the vessel has two sections 2, 3 with explosive filled compartments 27a, 27, and upper gas-filled compartments 28a, 28 which are mutually releasable and are located abaft a propulsion and steering section 1. The sections 1, 2, 3 are connected together by explosive bolts 47 which are exploded by signals from a control unit 26 connected to a rev-counter 23 of a drive motor 21 and to a control wire 32 stowed initially in a tail magazine 31 and connected to a firing position. The compartments 28, 28a are charged with carbon dioxide gas from a bottle 50 via ducts 63, 57 and bulkhead apertures 54a, 55a, 54, 55. Upon release of either section 2 or 3 the upper compartment 28a, 28 fills with water and the section sinks to the bottom to there acts as a mine, the gas dissolving in the sea water. In an alternative embodiment the propulsion and steering section is located at the stern of the vessel. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,447,619.
