Abstract

1527004 Melt spinning acrylonitrile JAPAN EXLAN CO Ltd 1 Nov 1976 45360/76 Heading B5B Fibres and films of acrylonitrile are melt spun or extruded from a composition comprising 30-90% by wt. of a polyacrylonitrile, 1-56% by wt. of water and 2-63% by wt. of acrylonitrile heated under autogenous pressure or above. In preparing the melt acrylonitrile is first dissolved or dispersed in water then mixed with the polymer. Heating is effected at 100‹ C. or higher preferably at 110-220‹ C. under 3-50 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> pressure.
