Abstract

1524293 Pressurized dispensing containers S A VALOIS 12 Feb 1976 [12 Feb 1975] 05638/76 Heading F1R [Also in Division B8] A dispensing valve for discharging a measured quantity of product from a pressurized dispenser incorporates a piston which discharges the measured quantity when the valve is opened. Piston 25 is slidable in housing 10 and has an aperture surrounded by sealing lip 25b through which passes a valve stem 16 having larger and smaller diameter portions 16b, 16c respectively, the larger diameter 16b being sealingly engagable with the lip 25b when the stem 16 is depressed. In the inoperative position the housing 10 fills with product. When the stem 16 is depressed the aperture in the piston is sealed by the portion 16b so that the pressure in the container lifts the piston 25 to discharge the trapped product through the aperture 23. As shown the piston is returned by a spring 26. In a second embodiment Fig. 5 (not shown) the piston has differential areas so that it is returned by pressure. In a further embodiment Fig. 6 (not shown) the piston housing is disposed outside the dispenser enabling a larger piston (which may also be returned by pressure) to be used.
