Abstract

1522609 Gas storage containers MARTACTO NAVIERA SA 20 Oct 1975 [18 Oct 1974 (2) 2 April 1975 (2)] 45274/74 45275/74 and 13491/75 Heading F4P A storage tank for pressurized fluid (e.g. liquefied gas) has a top, bottom and one pair of opposite sides composed of part-cylindrical lobes 11, 11a the other pair of sides being composed of lobes and/or domes 12, 12a, with internal orthogonally intersecting tie-plates 13, 14 connecting the inter-lobe nodes of opposite walls to divide the tank interior into tunnels 15 of rectangular, e.g. square, cross-section. The tunnels may extend longitudinally of the tank as shown, or transversely horizontally or vertically. The lobes and tie-plates are joined at the nodes by Y-sectioned junction-pieces (17, 17a), Fig. 2 (not shown) the ones (17a) on the bottom of the tank having additional downwardly extending arm for co-operation with a bar 20, Fig. 4, supported at intervals by stays 21 secured to a block 23 of heat insulating material. The tank may be ship-mounted, the supports allowing for thermal expansion and ship movement.
