Abstract

1518866 Moulding superposed layers METZELER KAUTSCHUK AG 10 Sept 1976 [11 Sept 1975] 37592/76 Heading B5A A mould for producing a laminated member e.g. a shoe sole composed of layers 2, 3, an edge strip 4 and a toe protection 6, comprises upper and lower parts 10, 11 with intermediate plates 12, 14 dividing the mould into separate mould cavities 15, 16, 24, 26. The plates 12, 14 are separated by a middle plate 13 having an opening providing the lateral, boundary of the cavity 24 into which upstanding pins of a vertically movable member 18 extend. Blanks of rubber or plastics, which may be of different material or colour, are placed in the cavities and the mould parts brought together and the blanks partially cured or polymerized; the mould is then opened, the plates 12, 14 removed and the mould again closed to bring the blanks together and effect their adhesion and complete curing. The pins of the member 18 produce a ribbed heel portion 3.
