Abstract

1518500 Bicomponent fibres; polyamides and polyurethanes COURTAULDS Ltd 24 Oct 1975 [26 Nov 1974] 51114/74 Heading B5B [Also in Division C3] A bicomponent fibre comprises a polyamide and an elastic polyurethane formed by the reaction of a diisocyanate with a hydroxy terminated polyester or polyether, a non- polymeric diol and a triol (up to 3 molar per cent based on the non polymeric diol), the elastomer having a melting point of 200-235‹ C. The bicomponent is melt spun in the conventional manner, stretched to a draw ratio of greater than 3 : 1 and released to form a crimped fibre.
