1517091 Pipe couplings SINGLEHURST HYDRAULICS Ltd 10 Jan 1976 00909/76 Heading F2G A pipe coupling comprises an externally screw-threaded body member B having a convergent internal wall 2 and a nut member N to screw on to the body member B, the nut member enclosing a ferrule having a counterbore 6 at one end to provide an annular leading portion 8 which is rounded at 18 to contact the convergent wall 2 and force an inwardly directed cutting edge 10 into the pipe P on tightening of the nut member N, the other end of the ferrule being enlarged and providing a bevel 11 to contact an internal bevel 12 on the nut member N, the bevel 11 being flanked by an annular surface 13 perpendicular to the coupling axis and a cylindrical surface 14 of axial extent equal to the radial extent of the surface 13, the cylindrical surface 14 leading to a surface of revolution 17 formed by a concave profile of axial extent at least twice that of the surface 14.
