Abstract

1516984 Making labels C A A WALLIS 11 Aug 1975 [13 Aug 1974] 35586/74 Heading B8F [Also in Division B5] A method of producing a plurality of adhesive labels 12, 12a, 12b from a label stock material 14 comprises combining a label stock material and a release carrier material 38 with a pressure sensitive adhesive sandwiched therebetween, the adhesive being applied in a pattern which corresponds substantially with the areas of the label to be formed from the stock and forming the labels. In the embodiment shown, stock 14 is printed at 22a-22d, dried at 26 and coated with adhesive by etched or gravure roll 30 prior to combination with the release material between rollers 31 and 42, die cutting rollers 44a and 44b cutting the labels and the carrier and labels being wound into roll 48. The label stock may be of paper, regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, or polyvinyl chloride, the adhesive or styrene-butadiene (or isoprene)- styrene block copolymer and the release carrier a silicone coated or paraffin waxed paper.
