Abstract

1511530 Thermally regenerative ventilators SHARP KK 13 Aug 1975 [14 Aug 1974 22 Aug 1974 23 Aug 1974] 33787/75 Heading F4V A ventilator for mounting in an outside wall of a building comprises a housing having internal partitions defining a first duct 4 for flow of room air to atmosphere and a second duct 5 for flow of fresh air to the room, a rotary regenerative heat exchanger 6 through which air in the duets 4, 5 flows in countercurrent, and coaxial fans 10, 12 driven by a common motor 9 and located immediately adjacent air inlets 7, 8 to the duets 4, 5 respectively The heat exchanger 6 includes a matrix made of asbestos capable of transferring heat and moisture, and is rotated by a motor 16. Motor 16 can be cooled by air induced by either fan 10 or 12, which include centrifugal impellers which can be subdivided by central partitions (Figs. 6, 7). The location of the fans 10, 12 upstream of the heat exchanger 6 is stated to produce a silencing effect.
