Abstract

1508843 Pill dispensers MEDICAL DISPENCER CO 25 March 1975 [29 March 1974] 12444/75 Heading B8P A pill dispenser comprises a body portion 18 and a cover 20 hinged thereto by an integral plastics hinge 22, there being a delivery aperture 46 in the body and an ejection member 58 in the lid. The pills are mounted between a blister sheet 62 and a layer of frangible material on the underside of sheet 22. The blister sheet is mounted in an indexing disc 16 having openings 80 each of which locates one pill, the disc also having a tap 72 undercut at 74 to engage a central slot in the sheet 62 and by which the disc and sheet may be rotated. Detent lugs 82 on the disc engage recesses 34 in the body, the receses having one side tapered to allow the detent to move up that side when the tap is turned, the detent then moving to and engaging the next recess. A catch 56 on the cover engages under a flange 38 on the body and the resilience of the hinge maintains the ejector 58 above the pills. When the lid is depressed the ejector presses the pill in the aperture 46 through the frangible material and delivers the pill from the dispenser. The frangible material may carry indicia indecating when the pills are to be taken. In a modification (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown) the tablet package and the indexing disc are made as a unit with a serrated edge by which the package may be rotated and the tab 72 is omitted. The sides of the body has openings through which the serrated edge protrudes.
