Abstract

1507074 Portable containers ADVANCED CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY 23 May 1975 [30 May 1974] 22867/75 Heading B8D [Also in Division B5] To enable a blow-moulded drum of high density polyethylene to be lifted by a fork-lift truck recesses 22, 24 are formed on two opposite sides. The upper and lower portions 14, 16 only depart from the profile P of the central portion 12 by a small angle thereby producing a stable base and, with the recessing of apertures in the top 18, facilitate stacking. A bung assembly Fig. 6 is formed by injection moulding and placed in the mould in which the drum is formed so that the bung assembly is secured to the drum wall during the blow-moulding. A ring 50 or other suitable fitting is provided adjacent the bung to enable a hook on a trolley to be attached to the top end of the drum. In another embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown) the top of the drum is closed by a separate lid (124).
