Abstract

1500404 Seals; connecting rods D KERMODE 3 Sept 1976 [4 June 1975] 24034/75 Headings F2B and F2T [Also in Division F1] In an actuator, a piston 15 is attached to a circular section connecting rod 21 by a gudgeon pin in the form of a long bolt 22 passing through a bush 23 in the connecting rod 21, with spacers 24 providing lateral location. The rod 21 slides through a bore 30 in a block 29 which forms a ball-joint with two annular members 32, 33. The member 32 fits into a recess in a castiron plate 35 which is lapped to the surface 36 of a wall 12 to form a sliding seal. The plate 35 is held against the wall 12 by a pair of brass rubbing strips 37 biased towards the wall 12 by leaf springs 38 which abut an apertured plate 39.
