Abstract

157,155. Fauth, P. L., [Firm of]. June 6, 1919, [Convention date]. Fats and fatty oils, extracting by solvents. In the extraction of oil from seeds &c. by benzine the mass is pressed after each saturation with the solvent. In the apparatus shown, the seeds &c. are introduced into a jacketed tube 5 up which they are carried by screw-conveyers 12, 13 on a shaft 11 which is also provided with beaters 14. The solvent flows down the tube in the opposite direction to the motion of the seeds, escaping through a strainer 9 and pipe 8. The escaping seeds are compressed by a cone 15 sliding on the shaft 11 and pressed downwards by a weighted lever 18. The exit portion of the tube 5 is enlarged and contains a cylindrical strainer 19. The treated and compressed seeds pass to a second similar apparatus as shown.
