Abstract
1439434 Stacking articles SIG SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES 8 Feb 1974 [12 Feb 1973] 05802/74 Heading B8C Apparatus for grouping chocolate bars 3 into a block 46 for collective packaging comprises means 1 which convey the bars to form a layer 11 which is so fed by means 12 to a stacking element 30 as to leave the space required for forming the next layer unobstructed. When a formed layer on a table 2 actuates a stop 4, the stop is raised and a pivoted arm 25 is lowered pivoting bell crank arms 21 on the feed means 12 causing spring clamps 28 on the arms 21 to grip the layer. The means 12 convey the clamped layer on to spaced side walls 31 of the element 30 which is raised to lift the layer above shoulders (42) of spring pressed catch bars 34. When a completed block is stacked on the bars 34, a plate 47 moves along path 51 beneath the block to lift it into the path of a horizontal pusher (49) which pushes the block on to a table or directly into a carton. Alternatively the pusher may push the block directly off the catch bars.
