Abstract

1434925 Road surface barrier blocks; kerbs; fencing HIGHWAY COMPONENTS Ltd 25 April 1973 [25 April 1972] 19095/72 Headings EIB and E1G A temporary road surface barrier or kerb comprises a chain of elongate concrete blocks of open inverted-V section connected by complementary end-face interlinking means (such as metal hooks and eyes, Fig. 5, not shown), the interlinking means allowing relative angular displacement between the blocks. Each block shown incorporates a hole 4 for a post 24. The barrier blocks may be used with auxiliary blocks such as 5 which are of V, L or open-rectangle plan. The open-rectangle blocks may be filled on site with sand. The chain of blocks may be anchored by a haunching of weak concrete. The posts 24 may comprise plastics tubes filled with concrete so that they break on impact.
