Abstract

1434003 Making terminals AMP Inc 2 Jan 1975 [18 Jan 1974] 17/75 Heading B3A [Also in Division H2] A flat metal blank for a tubular electrical connector is stamped to a generally rectangular shape with two opposite sides stepped to form projecting edges (Fig. 2, not shown). The stamped blank is forced into a first die and formed into a U-shape which is then reversed, placed over a mandrel 32 and forced into a second die 35 by press 37. The projecting edges abut and strains set up in the tube walls keep them together in a prestressed manner. In use, a wire forced transversely of its axis into the open section of the seam has its insulation cut and contact made with the core by the seam edges.
