Abstract

1431702 Hinges REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 30 July 1973 [31 July 1972] 36243/73 Heading E2F A hinge arrangement, particularly for a pedal on a motor vehicle, comprises a fixed mounting plate 1 formed with orifices 2, 3, 3a to receive interengaging hooks 6, 9, 9a respectively which are formed on a bearing housing 4. The upper part 5 of the housing is rigid and extends into a pair of bearing eyes 7, 7a which are bored axially at 11, 11a and split at 8 where they extend into the hooks 9, 9a so that the housing may be contracted to enable the hooks to be sprung into the mounting plate orifices. A sleeve 14 which carries a pedal arm 15 is inserted between eyes 7, 7a and retained by a hollow pivot pin 12 which is split axially at 13 so as to be a press fit in sleeve 14 and rotatable in eyes 7, 7a. When so assembled the sleeve 14 prevents contraction of the bearing housing and ensures retention of the hooks within the orifices. Other housings are described having different profiles and having further aligned bores for a hinge pin supporting sleeve 14 which is separate from the split sleeve 12, so that this has the sole function of securing the bearing housing on the bearing plate.
