Abstract

1431212 Percussive tools KOERING GmbH BOMAG DIVISION 6 June 1973 [24 June 1972] 26925/73 Heading B4C [Also in Division E1] A vibratory compacting machine comprises a machine frame 1, Fig. 1, an oscillatory mass 3 (compacting tool), one or more additional oscillatory masses 2 (compensating mass) and a vibrating mechanism drivingly connected to both the compacting tool and the compensating mass in order to oscillate them push-pull fashion 180 degrees out of phase with each other, the machine frame being connected resiliently to the compensating mass or both the masses being connected to the centre of gravity of the oscillatory mass system. The oscillations may be linear or angular. Both the compacting tool and the compensating mass or masses may be spring-mounted directly on to the frame. The compensating masses may also serve as compacting tools. In Fig. 7, the masses 12 to 14 angularly oscillate and are spring-mounted on a mobile unit 17. In Fig. 8, the machine frame 18 is pivotally connected by a coupling member 19 to the centre of gravity 20 of the masses which carry the vibrating mechanism, the source of motive power for which (hydraulic or electric) being located in the mobile unit 18 and fed via the coupling member. The compacting tools may be in the form of plates or rollers.
