Abstract
1430327 Pipe coupling SCOVILL MFG CO 10 April 1974 [2 May 1973] 15831/74 Heading F2G A coupling device comprises a body 1 having a face in which there is an opening communicating with an inner bore 1a of smaller diameter than that of the opening; an annular piece 2 secured in the opening and a, flexible tube 3 one end of which fits into the annular piece 2 and communicates with the inner bore, the annular piece having an internal annular barb 6 which engages the outer surface of the tube providing a fluid tight connection without constricting the bore of the tube. The opening has three concentric stepped bores 1b-1d communicating with inner bore 1a in body 1. Annular piece 2 is inserted in bore 1d so that it abuts shoulder 13 insertion being facilitated by bevels 7, 9 and is secured therein by an external annular barb 5. Alternatively piece 2 may be secured by adhesive or screwed into bore 1d. The tube 3 is connected by pushing it into the annular piece 2 until it abuts shoulder 11. Piece 2 is made of the same or harder material than that used for body 1 and tube 3. Barb 5 and an 0-ring 4 which is in the annular space between the walls of tube 3 and bore 1c ensure fluid tightness.
