Abstract

1430093 Seals ITW Ltd 24 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 40018/72 Heading B6P A tamperproof shackle seal includes a strap 10 with a plug 12 and socket 14 made as single plastics moulding. The socket has a mouth 24 and resilient fingers 34 able to flex to permit nose 32 to pass and which then hold the plug captive by abutting shoulder 38. Non-circular portion 22 is received in the correspondingly shaped mouth 24. As shown parts 22, 24 are oval and the seal may be of a high melting point plastics, e.g. nylon 66 or glass reinforced polypropylene. A cap 16 is ultrasonically weldable to close the opposite end of the socket 14 and ribs 36 provided to be received between the fingers 34. Protuberances 30 on the strap 10 and aperture 28 provide visual indications of whether the seal has been broken by cutting and remaking the strap 10.
