Abstract

809,398. Bottle &c. closure caps. FAPEX TRUST REG. May 28, 1957 [June 5, 1956 ; Oct, 8, 1956], No. 16928/57. Class 125(3). A tamper-proof screw cap 1 for bottles, &c. has a collar 2 provided with internal teeth 7 which cooperate with teeth 8 on the bottle neck, passing over teeth 8 in ratchet fashion when the cap is initially screwed on but attempts to unscrew the cap cause shearing along areas of weakness 11. A ply portion 5 enters the mouth of the bottle and the external surface of the cap has ribs 6. In a modification, Fig. 6 the collar 2 has teeth to mesh with fair teeth 8 on the bottle neck and is integral with the body at points 11 and by means of a short vertical rib 13 the collar itself tearing at 15 when the cap is unscrewed. In a further modification, Fig. 8, collar 2<SP>1</SP> is connected to the cap body by a fastening 16 and teeth 7 on the cap engage teeth 19 on the collar. In a still further modification, Fig. 10, the collar 2 is only fixed to the cap by the lower ends of ribs 6 and has internal ribs 23 which engage with ribs 24 on the bottle neck.
