Abstract

1428249 Valves GEORG FISCHER AG 20 Dec 1973 [20 Dec 1972] 59254/73 Heading F2V A fusible element 6 of a thermal safety valve having a spring-loaded closure member 14 and a seat 11 is housed in a cartridge 5 and the valve stem 8 is surrounded by a plastics, metal or elastomeric bellows 10. As shown the cartridge is supported by a rod I on a cover 2 and the rod, cartridge and valve stem are enclosed in a shrunk-on plastics sleeve connected to the bellows. A diaphragm 13 carries the valve member and protects the spring from the fluid, the compression of which spring is adjustable by a plug 16. The end of the stem 8 has a rim 7 which slows down the rate of valve closing and acts as an abutment when the stem is withdrawn and the fusible element is regenerated using a heating coil after it has melted and allowed the valve to close under its loading force.
