Abstract

1,064,732. Valves. SERCK RADIATORS Ltd. Nov. 26, 1963 [Dec. 31, 1962], No. 49009/62. Heading F2V. Seepage of pressure fluid past the sealing rings 7 of the pressure balancing piston 4 of a closure 6 is relieved to the outlet 21, via a passage 8, by an auxiliary valve closure 11 actuated by a stem 18 which also operates closure 6 with lost motion between the shoulder 16a of a connecting member 16 and a cap 14 screwed into the piston 4. The auxiliary closure 11 is seated by dished resilient washers 15, which bear against a disc 13, and is connected to the connecting member 16 with lost motion by a transverse peg 17, from which the closing stress of closure 6 is relieved by the abutment of stem 18, or a lock-nut thereupon, with cap 14. The rings 7 may be replaced by 0-rings and the valve seat 2 and 10 may be of rubber. The valves may be actuated manually, electrically, hydraulically or pneumatically.
