Abstract

1427570 Pneumatic conveyers R W BROWN 11 March 1974 [14 March 1973] 12366/73 Heading B8A [Also in Division F1] In a pneumatic conveying system for pulverulent or particulate materials, controlled amounts of material are alternately fed to a despatch vessel and pneumatically discharged therefrom into a conveying pipe-line, the frequency of the fill/discharge cycle being 6-60 per minute. In the Figure, material passes from hopper S via fill valve 2 into despatch vessel 1 and thence into conveying pipe-line 3 to be delivered to receiving hopper R. Air is supplied alternately to fill valve 2 and despatch vessel 1 to cause alternate filling and emptying of vessel 1. Air is also supplied at injectors 4 via non-return valves 11 to create "slugs" of material separated by air. The system may be controlled pneumatically, as shown, or electro-pneumatically.
