1426740 Disperse azo dyestuffs IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 13 July 1973 [1 Aug 1972] 35912/72 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of Formula I where A is the radical of a diazo component of the aromatic or heterocyclic series which may contain an arylazo group, the ring B may be substituted by Cl, Br, alkyl, alkoxy or acylamino, R<SP>1</SP> is H, optionally substituted aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or heterocyclic or a radical represented by R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> is alkyl optionally substituted by OH, -SO 2 R<SP>3</SP>, -COR<SP>4</SP>, -O-acyl, -COOR<SP>3</SP>, -OR<SP>3</SP>, -CONR<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>, Cl or Br, R<SP>3</SP> is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, R<SP>4</SP> is H or alkyl, X is optionally substituted alkylene and Y is a direct link, -O- or -S-, the -Y-X-COOH group being attached to C atom of a benzene ring present in A or to a C atom of ring B, are prepared by azo coupling. The dyestuffs of Formula I give yellow, red and blue shades when used to dye a variety of synthetic textile materials, which may be blended with natural fibres.
