Abstract

1408672 Basic azo dyes PRODUUITS CHIMIQUES UGINE KUHLMANN 26 Feb 1973 [24 Feb 1972 28 Dec 1972] 9230/73 Heading C4P [Also in Division C2] New basic diazo dyes of formula wherein R 1 is H, alkyl or aryl, R 2 is alkyl, R 3 is aryl when R 1 is alkyl and alkyl when R 1 is H or aryl, R 4 is H or alkyl, R 5 is an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cyanoalkyl, acylaminoalkyl, or a group of formula Y is H, alkyl, alkoxy or acylamino, Z is H or alkoxy and X is an anion are prepared by alkylating the corresponding azo dyes having no R 2 substituent and wherein R 3 may be H. Acyl is defined as R.CO wherein R is an aliphatic or aromatic radical. The intermediate azo dyes are prepared by coupling diazotized 5-amino-4- chloro-pyrazoles with substituted anilines. The dyes are used to colour polyacrylonitrile and acid-modified synthetic polyamide and polyester fibres in red shades.
