Abstract
1425072 Detecting voltages within given range; fail safe circuits VDO ADOLF SCHINDLING AG 29 Nov 1973 [21 Dec 1972] 55495/73 Heading H3T [Also in Division H2] A protective switching arrangement associated with a bridge in one of whose arms 2 is a thermistor 7 acting as a temperature sensor and in whose zero diagonal is an amplifier associated with a switching transistor 15 controlling current to a relay 16 comprises auxiliary resistances 21, 22 in parallel with the supply diagonal of the bridge and a switching transistor 25 connected between the auxiliary resistances and point 24 where the. lead 2 from the thermistor joins the zero diagonal of the bridge this transistor 25 being operatively connected to the switching transistor 15. If a disconnection occurs in lead 2 to prevent damage to the controlled system by non-functioning of the bridge due to the thermistor being cut out of the circuit the voltage at the point 24 causes the switching transistor 25 and thus consequently switching transistor 15 to conduct and cause relay 16 to close. Switching transistor 25 may be replaced by an operational amplifier, Fig. 2, not shown.
